DRS, Dec 2: Rohit-Kohli rift with Gambhir, RCB’s home base issue & how CSK forced KKR to release Russell
The current India batting coach and former chief selector have backed Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. But the senior pros seem to have issues with people in power. We have an update on Shubman Gill’s injury. RCB’s home base may or may not be changed. Lastly, why was Andre Russell released before the IPL 2026 auction?

Rift in Indian dressing room?
In an unsettling update, it’s come to light that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli aren’t on the greatest of terms with Gautam Gambhir. It’s not just the head coach, either. Rohit isn’t pleased with the Chairman of Selectors, Ajit Agarkar, either. The BCCI is looking to resolve the issues and has called for a meeting involving the four.

Shubman Gill injury update
Shubman Gill has checked into the Centre of Excellence (CoE) to begin his rehabilitation. Out of action since suffering a neck injury during the Kolkata Test, Gill is expected to stay in Bengaluru for a week. It’s expected that Gill will be selected for the India vs South Africa T20I series.

Karnataka government’s notice to KSCA
The Public Works Department (PWD) has issued a formal notice to KSCA, requiring them to submit a detailed structural safety report for the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. If the organisation wants to host IPL 2026 matches, the report will have to be certified. If they don’t get cleared, Bengaluru’s exile will continue.

No Rohit-Kohli, no World Cup win
Krishnamachari Srikkanth thinks Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli continue to be India’s best batters in ODI cricket. The former India selector went as far as saying that without the star batters, India won’t have a chance of winning the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Why KKR released Russell
It turns out that KKR released Andre Russell to enter the IPL 2026 auction with the highest purse. Considering the all-rounder would have cost INR 18 crore, KKR released him to ensure they can acquire players like Cameron Green or Matheesha Pathirana. Russell was going to enter the auction, but then KKR named him as their coach.

Kotak shuns ‘future’ questions
Sitanshu Kotak thinks people should stop asking about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future. The Indian batting coach shared that there’s no talk in the dressing room about senior pros’ spots for the ODI World Cup. Kotak added that batting, fitness, and experience – they check all of these boxes.
