Neymar demands sacking of Al Hilal coach following altercation after ACL draw

Neymar demands Al Hilal coach to be sacked following altercation after ACL draw

Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. hasn’t had great start since joining Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal. Multiple reports are now emerging about the forward being unhappy with Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus. The reports claim Neymar has even asked the Al Hilal board to look into the possibility of sacking Jesus.

Neymar’s six-year stay at PSG came to an end during the summer transfer window when he signed for Saudi Professional League club Al Hilal for reported €90 million.

The Brazilian has only made three starts and provided two assists for Al Hilal in all competitions since his arrival.

Neymar-Jesus spat

Jesus was critical of Neymar following the 1-1 AFC Champions League draw between Al Hilal and Uzbekistani outfit Navbahor Namangan. The criticism left the Brazilian unimpressed, who got involved in an altercation with the coach.

The Portuguese coach apparently criticised the 31-year-old for his bad attitude, which the player took exception to, asking the Al-Hilal bosses to sack Jesus.

A report from Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo says Jesus and Neymar were very close to a ‘physical altercation’ following the match against Navbahor, which led to the player ‘demanding’ his boss gets the boot.

The coach has reportedly received an ultimatum from the club leaders that if he fails to change the fortunes of the club, his contract may be terminated.

Neymar hadn’t played a game in seven months after picking up a serious ankle knock at PSG, and he could have risked returning to the operating table after typically rough matches against South American foes such as the Bolivians and Peru, who Brazil beat 1-0 in Lima.

It is highly probable that Neymar will be sought out to take part in Brazil’s upcoming Conmebol games against Colombia and Uruguay in the month of October.

Therefore, it is important to monitor his ability to maintain a balance between club and country obligations, as well as whether or not he will remain on the same page as Jesus and al Hilal.
