As per the ICC rule, the top 7 teams based on the standings of the ICC World Cup 2023 along with hosts Pakistan will form the 8 teams that will take part in the tournament. With England placed at the bottom of the table, the Three Lions have a tough job on their hands to make it to the Champions Trophy.
It is not an impossible job for England to make it to the upcoming tournament, but it certainly won’t be an easy job. England has 3 matches remaining in the World Cup and will have to win those three matches at cost. Out of those 3 games, England faces the fiery Australians and Pakistan. Apart from these 2 heavy-weight clashes, they face a tricky picture against the Netherlands who have already caused a couple of upsets in the World Cup.

“Some top players and we are a long way short of our best. Excellent start in the powerplay, the guys found some movement, there was a bit of indifferent bounce as well, the ground fielding was good. It felt like today was the day where it was all turning around, but the way we batted, didn’t back that up. (On Champions Trophy 2025 qualification) We are aware of that, we’ve still got lots to play for,” said Jos Buttler after the match.

- England is bottom last in the Points Table and will have to finish within the top 8 (including Pakistan).
- England has 3 remaining matches against Australia, the Netherlands, and Pakistan. They have to win all three games and move up the points table.
- England will have to better their Net Run Rate and hope the other teams drop points so England can finish within the top 8 (including Pakistan).
