Andre Onana defends Manchester United teammate Alejandro Garnacho after the later probes suspension following racism allegations

Andre Onana has defended Manchester United teammate Alejandro Garnacho. Garnacho was facing a suspension for using a gorilla emoji in a now-deleted remark regarding the custodian. Onana, on the other hand, is adamant that he should not face a suspension.

‘People cannot choose what I should be offended by,’ wrote Onana on Instagram on Thursday evening.

The Garnacho praised the shot-stopper for his heroics against Copenhagen. To seal all three points, Onana stopped a stoppage-time penalty. Garnacho shared a photo of himself and the Cameroonian rejoicing on social media. He sparked outrage, however, by using two gorilla emoticons.

Following a criticism, Garnacho amended the original post to delete them. However, he then erased the message from his timeline entirely. However, it did not escape the notice of the fans.

Based on the FA’s prior measures in response to racially charged postings, Garnacho might face  a suspension . However, Onana has broken his silence on the subject in order to protect the adolescent. The emojis’ message has been misinterpreted, according to Garnacho, who has requested authorities not to penalise him.

I know exactly what Garnacho meant: power and strength. This matter should go no further.

Garnacho was said to be oblivious of the emoji’s racist overtones and erased them after learning about them. However, the FA is still likely to look into the case. Garnacho even reissued Onana’s tweet to demonstrate what he actually intended to mean. .
