Joe Root > India? Yorkshire batter enters IND vs ENG 2nd Test with more runs than India’s whole squad

If you thought the India cricket team had a tall task ahead of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test, think again. With Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja out of the second Test in Vizag, Rohit Sharma and co. have a big challenge ahead of them.

Feeling dispirited? It’s about to get much worse. England’s ace batter Joe Root has scored more runs than the entire India cricket team squad for the India vs England 2nd Test. Yes, you read it right. Root alone has more runs than India’s 15-man squad.

Of course, one major reason behind this is Kohli’s omission, who has 8848 runs in 113 matches. But the point stands. The India cricket team is going against a side in which a single player (Joe Root) has outscored their whole squad alone.

But there is another such statistic that the Indian fans wouldn’t like to see. Ben Stokes (98) and James Anderson (183) alone have played more Test matches than India’s squad. The duo have combined played 281 Test matches, while India’s 17-man squad has played 280 Tests.
