GT vs MI: Rohit Sharma proves why he’s a valuable asset to Mumbai Indians with quickfire 43

In his very first match after being replaced by Hardik Pandya as MI skipper, Rohit Sharma showed why he’s still a valuable asset to the team. In the GT vs MI encounter, he scored 43 from 29 balls to take his team closer to the target of 169 runs. Although his innings was cut short by a Sai Kishore delivery, but the India captain looked in fine nick, as he slammed seven fours and one six, in his stay at the crease.

The highlight of Rohit’s innings was that he strung a crucial 77-run partnership with Dewald Brewis, when Mumbai were in a spot of bother at 30/2, losing Ishan Kishan and Naman Dhir early. The former skipper kept guiding the youngster in the middle as he neared his maiden fifty in the IPL.

Gujarat Titans were restricted to 168 on the back of some solid bowling by Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee. In his four overs, the Indian returned with figures of 3/14, while the South African got 2/27 in his quota of overs. For GT, Sai Sudarshan was the highest-scorer with 45, followed by Shubman Gill (31).
