Cristiano Ronaldo makes history in Euro 2024, becomes first European with 50 appearances in major tournaments

Cristiano Ronaldo made history as he took the field for Portugal in their final group-stage match against Georgia on Wednesday in UEFA Euro 2024. Ronaldo became the first European player to make 50 appearances in major tournaments. Portugal has won both of their group-stage matches and advanced to the Round of 16 as Group F winners.

50th Major Tournament appearance for Cristiano Ronaldo

At 39 years old, Ronaldo is participating in his sixth Euros, a record for the tournament. His inclusion in the squad was a topic of discussion before the event began. Despite the debates, Ronaldo has started both matches in this competition.

Ronaldo’s 50 appearances include 28 matches at the Euros and 22 at the World Cup. He made his Euros debut in 2004 and his first World Cup appearance in 2006. The 39-year-old won the Euros in 2016, but the World Cup dream has remained elusive.
