The real King! Rohit Sharma delivers on big stage with dominating fifty in semi-final vs England

India cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma showed why he is a big match player with a fitting cameo in the semi-final against England. The Hitman smashed 57 runs off 39 deliveries in the rain-hit tie at the Providence stadium in Guyana. Despite losing Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant early in the innings, Sharma played the dual role of anchor and aggressor at various points of the game.

Rohit Sharma, the big match player

The Indian skipper looked in rather good form on Thursday, striking the ball aggressively right from the first delivery. Sharma’s knock was studded with six fours and two maximums and a strike rate of 146.15. En route to his 57-run knock, Rohit Sharma overtook Mahela Jayawardene to become the batter with most fours in T20 World Cup history.

Rohit’s fine form carried on from India’s previous encounter against Australia where the Hitman punished the bowlers mercilessly. He blasted 92 runs in just 41 balls, hitting the ball with utter disdain. Even though he didn’t reach 100 runs, the way he dominated the bowlers was amazing to watch. He hit the boundary line many times, with 7 fours and a whopping 8 sixes.

Rohit had a poor run before the Super 8 stage of the tournament with a string of poor outings after the opening game against Ireland.
