DRS Aug 29: MS Dhoni abused CSK bowler, Mohammed Shami open to leave SRH & IND vs PAK Asia Cup tickets

The new Indian domestic season has started with the Duleep Trophy. However, fans cannot watch their favourite cricketers in action. Despite being the richest cricket board, the BCCI hasn’t made any arrangements to stream or telecast Duleep Trophy matches. Day 1 saw incredible hitting by Rajat Patidar and Danish Malewar, who will most probably get his double hundred today. Elsewhere, former CSK pacer Mohit Sharma revealed a stunning incident involving MS Dhoni. Also, beware of the scamsters who are selling the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup tickets in the black market.

When MS Dhoni abused CSK pacer

MS Dhoni is known for his composure, but Mohit Sharma recently recalled a rare instance when “Captain Cool” lost his temper. During a Champions League T20 clash between CSK and KKR, Dhoni had asked Ishwar Pandey to bowl, but Mohit misheard and began his run-up. The umpire forced him to continue, and although Mohit dismissed Yusuf Pathan first ball, Dhoni unleashed abuses at him, even during the celebration. Yet, under Dhoni’s leadership, Mohit thrived, winning the Purple Cap in 2014 and becoming one of CSK’s most trusted bowlers.

IND vs PAK black market tickets

Despite calls for a boycott, demand for India vs Pakistan tickets at the Asia Cup 2025 has skyrocketed, with black market prices soaring up to Rs 15.75 lakh even before official sales. The two arch-rivals will meet on September 14 in Dubai, their first clash since Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack. While tickets are yet to be officially launched, several third-party sites are already listing them at inflated rates, prompting the Asian Cricket Council and ECB to warn fans against scams. Official sales are expected to open soon at reasonable prices, with the possibility of India and Pakistan meeting up to three times in the tournament.

Shami to leave SRH for LSG?

Mohammed Shami has hinted at a possible move to Lucknow Super Giants after a disappointing stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025. Bought for Rs 10 crore after being released by GT, the veteran pacer struggled, managing just six wickets in nine matches and losing pace and accuracy. Speaking to News24, Shami said he was open to playing for any franchise that bid for him. With LSG battling injury setbacks to pacers like Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan this season, Shami’s experience could be valuable provided the 34-year-old stays fit and rediscovers his form.

Dubai-bound Indian Asia Cup team

India’s Asia Cup 2025 campaign begins with a change in routine, as players will travel individually to Dubai on September 4 instead of assembling at one location. The first training session is scheduled for September 5 at the ICC Academy, ahead of their opening match against UAE on September 10. Captain Suryakumar Yadav will also fly out on the 4th. Meanwhile, several squad members involved in the Duleep Trophy, including Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav, will join later. Notably, Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar won’t travel as net bowlers.

Why no Gill, Jurel at Duleep Trophy?

The Duleep Trophy 2025 began with some high-profile absentees as Shubman Gill, Dhruv Jurel and Abhimanyu Easwaran missed the opening round. Gill, slated to captain North Zone, sat out against East Zone due to illness but is expected to join BCCI’s CoE in Bengaluru ahead of the Asia Cup. Jurel, named Central Zone skipper, withdrew with a groin issue, while Rajat Patidar stepped in as captain. East Zone also lost Abhimanyu Easwaran to fever, with Riyan Parag taking charge. Gill was India’s top scorer in the recent England series, while Jurel and Easwaran had been part of the Test squad earlier this year.

Duleep Trophy Day 1

The Duleep Trophy 2025 got underway with dominant batting displays on Day 1. Central Zone crushed North East Zone’s bowling, racing to 432/2 with Rajat Patidar smashing an 80-ball century and Danish Malewar scoring his third ton in just 10 games. Their 204-run stand left North East reeling before rain ended play. Elsewhere, Mohammed Shami marked his red-ball return, sending down 17 overs and finally striking late in the day. Though wicketless for long, his fitness held up well. Meanwhile, Mukesh Kumar gave East Zone a brief scare after a hamstring issue but returned to bowl a few overs. Ayush Badoni scored a fifty for North Zone.
