Now retired, the Indian cricket legend has named the toughest bowlers he faced during his decade long career.
Cheteshwar Pujara names Dale Steyn, Cummins among toughest bowlers
Former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara has omitted long time rivals Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood amongst the toughest bowlers he has faced. In an interview with the Times of India, the former India No.3 picked Australia captain Pat Cummins among the famed quartet which also includes Nathan Lyon. Cummins and Pujara were locked in battle in the historic 2020/21 Test series Down Under, with the India star facing a many a body blow.
The former India batter listed South Africa duo Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn amongst the most fiercest. England legend James Anderson also featured, having been the most successful against Pujara.
“Across my career, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, James Anderson, and Pat Cummins have been among the most challenging bowlers I’ve faced,” Pujara told TOI.

Pujara announced his retirement from all formats of cricket earlier this week. The former India vice-captain scored 7195 runs from 103 Tests and 21301 runs from 278 first-class matches. Pujara last played a Test for India in the World Test Championship (WTC) final in 2023 against Australia. He continued to feature in domestic cricket for Saurashtra, but was left out of the West Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy.
