Bangladesh cricketer Shakib al Hasan etched his name in the history books once again, as he became the 5th cricketer to take 500+ wickets in T20s. The all-rounder stormed into the list after picking up three wickets in Antigua & Barbuda vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots tie in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2025). Shakib also became the 1st Bangladesh player to have 7000 runs and 500 wickets in the shortest format of the game.
Shakib becomes 5th player with 500 wickets in T20s
Bowling first in the contest, Shakib played a crucial role in dismantling the Patriots’ middle-order. His first victim was CPL 2025’s latest signee – Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan – as he sent him packing for 30 runs. In his next over, he struck twice to dismiss Kyle Myers and Navian Bidaisee. Shakib finished his spell with figures of 11/3.
With his outstanding spell against Antigua & Barbuda, Shakib now joins the list of Rashid Khan, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine and Imran Tahir on players who have 500+ wickets in T20s.

The Bangladesh all-rounder has not been a part of the national side since October 2024. He has only been taking part in T20 leagues across the globe, including the Vitality Blast, MLC 2025 and now the Caribbean Premier League 2025 (CPL 2025).
