Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will hold a meeting to decide their retention list for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction. Gautam Gambhir has spoken about being the man in charge of the Indian team. ICC has fined a West Indies bowler. Smriti Mandhana has created history. Abhimanyu Easwaran is ‘hurt’. Babar Azam has beaten Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant to the punch.

CSK retention
MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Stephen Fleming will convene to discuss CSK’s retention list for the IPL 2026 auction. While the trio will converse on the matter, the final decision will be taken by N Srinivasan, who became the chairman of Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL) in September.

Gambhir-Gill-SKY
Gautam Gambhir has addressed rumours suggesting that at the moment, it’s him who is calling all the shots in Team India. The Indian head coach stated that Suryakumar Yadav is the leader of the T20I team, while it’s Shubman Gill who’s in charge of the ODI and Test sides.

Record-breaker Mandhana
Smriti Mandhana has become the first player to score 1,000 ODI runs in a calendar year. Playing against Australia in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, the Indian vice-captain scored 80 (66). Mandhana also became the fifth player to score 5,000 runs in Women’s ODIs.

ICC fine
ICC has fined West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales 25% of his match fee and handed him one demerit point for ‘inappropriate behaviour’. On the first day of the India vs West Indies 1st Test, Seales had thrown the ball in anger towards Yashasvi Jaiswal, which hit him on his pads.

Easwaran
Abhimanyu Easwaran has been part of India’s Test squad multiple times since 2021 but hasn’t been able to make his debut yet. The batter from Bengal stated that the constant disappointments hurt him sometimes. But Easwaran hasn’t lost hope; he takes inspiration from Michael Hussey and Suryakumar Yadav, both of whom made their international debut at 30 or later.

Babar 3k
Babar Azam has become the first Asian batter to score 3,000 runs in WTC history. The former Pakistan captain scored 23 runs against South Africa on the opening day of the Lahore Test. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant were in the race to get there, but Babar has beaten them to it.
