Security breach in Lahore as teenager climbs to Pakistan’s dressing room to meet Babar Azam

Babar Azam’s 31st birthday coincided with Pakistan’s emphatic 93-run win over South Africa in the first Test at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. But the celebrations wanted to have an extra member! It came as a huge shock as a teenage fan breached security in a desperate attempt to meet the star batter. Incidentally, it showed how poor the security protocols were in Lahore as the teenage kid climbed his way to the Pakistani dressing room!

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 15, during the final day’s play. Video footage from the venue showed a young fan climbing through the Majid Khan Enclosure and walking toward the players’ area near the dressing rooms. The alert coaching staff noticed the intrusion and immediately informed security officials, who rushed in and intercepted the boy before he could reach the Pakistan team’s dressing area. Despite repeatedly pleading to meet Babar, he was escorted out of the venue by the security personnel.

Eyewitnesses at the ground revealed that the boy appeared overwhelmed by the occasion and simply wanted to wish his idol on his birthday. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to issue an official statement regarding the security lapse. Babar himself was not present in the dressing room when the incident took place, but he was later informed about it by the team staff.
