Two captains didn’t turn up for IPL 2026’s first double-header day. BCB has written to BCCI. Hardik Pandya has been advised to bowl more. Pat Cummins has left for home. The speed guns are out for Ashok Sharma. Lastly, Yuvraj Singh hopes Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are treated correctly.

BCCI’s directive for Pandya
The BCCI has informed Hardik Pandya to increase his workload. With the ODI World Cup 2027 not far away, the board wants the all-rounder to be fit enough to handle bowling 10 overs per match. Traditionally, India hasn’t relied way too much on Pandya, as he’s bowled his full quota only 18 times in ODIs.

IND vs BAN series on?
The BCB has written to the BCCI regarding the resumption of bilateral cricket between the two nations. The neighbours had been at odds since last year, when the BCCI postponed their men’s tour. BCB expects to host the Men in Blue in September for 6 matches and then wishes to send the women’s team to India.

Kishan to continue as SRH captain
SRH captain Pat Cummins has left the side and flown back to Australia for a final scan. Cummins hasn’t been cleared to play by Cricket Australia, as he recovers from a back injury. He’s expected to rejoin the SRH squad on April 17, provided he gets clearance. In the meantime, Ishan Kishan will continue as the stand-in skipper.

Ashok Sharma breaks the speed barrier
GT fast bowler Ashok Sharma has delivered the 10th fastest ball in the IPL’s history against RR in Ahmedabad. Known for his speed, the 23-year-old clocked 149 in his first over, breached the 150-mark in his third over, and then went on to deliver a ball at 154.2. Only two Indian fast bowlers have bowled at a higher pace than him in the IPL.

Rohit-Kohli deserve clarity
Yuvraj Singh hopes that selectors provide Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli clarity about where they stand as far as the ODI World Cup 2027 is concerned. A former teammate of theirs, Yuvraj, pointed out that Indian cricket hasn’t treated players fairly when it comes to messaging and hopes that isn’t the case with them.

New GT & MI captains
Hardik Pandya was unable to captain MI against DC in Delhi. Stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav explained that the all-rounder hasn’t been feeling well and will sit out. In the night game, GT captain Shubman Gill was unable to take the field as well. He had a back spasm. Rashid Khan took over from him.
