‘Passion & spirit’: Sarfaraz Khan spills beans on his first meeting with Virat Kohli in RCB dressing room
India cricket team batter Sarfaraz Khan heaped praise on Virat Kohli‘s leadership abilities, recalling the times when he shared the RCB dressing room with the batting maestro. Both Kohli and Sarfaraz are set to be a part of the two-match IND vs BAN Test series. Ahead of the 1st Test on September 19, Sarfaraz provided an insight into Kohli’s charismatic character and how he motivated the team.

Sarfaraz Khan spilled the beans on the dressing room environment in RCB when he was a part of the IPL franchise. The Mumbai batter revealed that Virat Kohli used to take charge at the pre-match meetings and explained how the latter used to educate other players on how he would explain in detail about the runs he would score off various bowlers. He added that it was a dream come true for him to share the Indian dressing room with the former skipper.
“His passion and spirit are unmatched. Whenever I saw him, even in the pre-match meetings, he’d take charge and tell everyone how many runs he’d score off a particular bowler and break that down for everyone. To be gutsy enough to stand up and talk with such positivity in front of everyone and then deliver the next day is a very unique ability,” Sarfaraz Khan told JioCinema.

Sarfaraz Khan was a part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru from 2015-18. A famous incident includes Virat Kohli bowing down to the Mumbai batter following his whirlwind knock, the picture of which went viral.
“I met him at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for the first time. I had scored 45 runs in 21 balls here and he bowed to me. I had a lot of fun that day. It was a dream to share an Indian team dressing room with him it will come true in the future if I get the opportunity,” he added.
The IND vs BAN series will be the first time Sarfaraz and Kohli will be sharing the Indian dressing room. The Mumbai batter made his India debut in IND vs ENG series earlier this year which Virat Kohli missed due to the birth of his child Akaay. While Sarfaraz is unlikely to start ahead of KL Rahul in the playing XI for the series against Bangladesh, he will still get the chance to be reunited with Kohli in the dressing room.
